If you are experiencing hair loss, it is likely that you want to learn everything you can about it. This can be difficult, however, because even many doctors don’t understand this condition fully and few of then have much experience treating it. It’s likely that you are going to have to do a lot of your own research and legwork. The best place to start with this is by understanding the various types of loss and how your body is affected by them.

There are three types of hair loss, including male pattern baldness, female pattern baldness, and scarring alopecia. Male pattern baldness, which can begin as early as the teens for some men, is identified by a receding hairline combined with a bald patch on the top of the head. It can conclude with either partial or complete baldness. Female pattern baldness, on the other hand, rarely results in baldness. Instead, those who are afflicted with it experience a significant thinning of their hair in the front, on the sides, or at the top.

Scarring alopecia, the third type of baldness, is relatively rare. It is caused by an inflammatory condition which scars the hair follicles, resulting in irreversible hair loss. Other types of baldness, by contrast, are only temporary. They can be stopped or reversed using medication or lifestyle changes. However, they can still be scary if you do not understand them. These types include alopecia areata, telogen effluvium, and traction alopecia.

The first type, because it involves some baldness, can be particularly frightening. But unlike pattern baldness, which occurs in large, expanding areas, alopecia areata involves several smaller bald patches no bigger than a quarter. They are usually round and smooth, and the condition rarely involves more than a few patches on the head. However, it is possible for it to include any place that has hair, including the eyebrows, beard, or even the entire body. Telogen effluvium, on the other hand, involves handfuls of hair falling out suddenly. Rather than causing bald spots, it usually only results in thinning of the hair.

And finally, traction alopecia is hair loss caused by hairstyles that pull on the hair. Hair loss of any type is unnerving. However, if you understand the type that you have you are less likely to panic and more likely to understand the best way to treat it. So if you are experiencing this condition, talk to your doctor about the various types and the symptoms you are experiencing. He will thank you for being a part of your own care, and he will be able to treat you much more effectively.

Cause of Hair Loss In Women

There are several reasons for hair loss in women. Most often it is because of a hormonal imbalance, other times, hair loss is an after effect of surgery or pregnancy.

Taking specific medications such as the birth control pill, blood thinners, or anti fungal medication can also cause hair loss in women. Women who have had chemotherapy treatment have also experienced hair loss. And these are just a few of the many causes out there.

Diseases and Hair Loss In Women

There are also certain diseases that can cause hair loss in men and women. One of the warning signs of diabetes is hair loss. Specific tests need to be done to examine the real cause of hair loss before you take any further action.

When Is Hair Loss In Women Normal?

At any given point in time, hair experts suggest that about seven to ten percent of a woman’s hair is in a resting period. This resting period can last approximate two to three months. When the resting period is done, the hair falls out. New hair immediately starts to grow back, and could take up to 6 years to grow out. Hair experts also claim that approximately ninety percent of all hair is growing at one time. It is the normal to experience hair loss on a daily basis.

Treat Your Hair With Care

The way hair is treated can affect hair loss. When hair is always tied back, either in pigtails or ponytails, it can cause a condition called Alopecia. This condition results in scarring on the scalp and new hair growth is prohibited.

Consult Your Doctor?

A medical doctor can help you in the diagnosis of hair loss in women. A doctor will perform an analysis and ask a series of questions to help with the diagnosis. It is important to answer all questions honestly.

Treatment Options For Hair Loss In Women

There are numerous treatments for hair loss. If the hair loss is due to medication, then a different medication can be prescribed. If the hair loss is due to infection or hormones, again medication can be prescribed.

Hair loss drugs such as Rogaine have been developed for hair loss for women. This medicine can be found in over the counter pharmacies everywhere.

There are herbal supplements to help with hair loss in women as well. Some examples of other treatment options are shampoo, hair conditioner, changes of certain routine, etc.

Most women experience gradual or sudden hair loss during and after pregnancy. This happens because of ‘raging hormones’.

Most of the women get startled after seeing clumps of hair coming out while showering or during combing. Women usually experience hair loss after pregnancy especially around six months after childbirth.

Hair loss after pregnancy happens due to the fact that women’s body is nourishing the new born rather than feeding the hair because the infant and the mother are the important persons not the hair.

There are other reasonso for hair loss after childbirth. The hormones, which are causing normal hair loss are completely lost during pregnancy. Hence normal shedding of hair is not noticed while pregnant. Once the baby comes out of the womb, the women’s body returns to normal and the hair begins to grow again.

Ways to Hide Hair Loss after Pregnancy

One idea to correct hair loss after pregnancy is to go for a better cut or new hair style. Most of the new moms don’t have enough time to go for different hair care designs in order to hide the hair loss after pregnancy. So ask your hubby to baby-sit while the new mom may find little time to look after their hair to camouflage the hair-lessened areas.

If you find enough time to look after your hair despite your new baby, the hair loss after pregnancy can be taken care by having woven with lowlights around your face to improve your skin and face by masking the hair falling.

Finally, you can choose hair accessories such as ponytail with hanging pearls. These hair accessories can be used as useful hair-helpers to mask hair loss. Even headbands are the perfect fit in areas of hair loss especially near the temple or over the ears and around the hairline.

Hair loss after pregnancy is temporary condition and can easily be handled. Hair loss after pregnancy is a typical situation and there is nothing to worry about!

Unlike hair loss in men, women’s hair loss does not result in total hair loss. The psychological impact of women’s hair loss is huge when compared to men since women consider their hair as an essential part of their appearance.

There are several reasons for women’s hair loss. Heredity is one of those. Moreover the treatment of women’s hair loss is totally different than that of men, because the medication offered for re-growth of hair may cause the growth of hair on other parts of the body such as chest, back, and face.

Women who experience hair loss need to consult a doctor to find out what causes the hair loss. Once the cause has been confirmed, the physician will be able to prescribe the suitable medication. For women’s hair loss, many physicians prescribe estrogen to correct the condition.

Treatment for Women’s Hair Loss

Women’s hair loss can be treated with glucocorticoids. Topical application of Minoxodil or Anthralin is the only recommended treatment available for women’s hair loss. Women’s hair loss in the initial stage can be treated well and the response to the treatment is also very good.

An important condition called Androgenic alopecia is found to be affecting about 2% of the population. This condition causes complete hair loss all over the body. Women’s hair loss falling under this category is found to be difficult to treat. Doctors may prescribe certain medicines to reduce the symptoms of Androgenic alopecia.

Women which just gave birth to a child also suffer from hair loss very often. This type of hair loss is temporary and may disappear within 6 months after birth. This is primarily due to the fact that there is a higher estrogen level during pregnancy, which might result in keeping the hair follicles in the growth phase. Immediately after childbirth, there is a sudden withdrawl of estrogen, which may cause the hair to enter into the hair loss phase. Hair may grow again after 6 months, but applying hair tonic may hasten re-growth of hair.

In many cases diets may lead to women’s hair loss and also fast weight loss over a short period. In addition to this, emotional and physical stress may also create hair loss. Immediately after the alleviation of the stress, the hair loss will be stopped.

Perming solutions used on hair may cause hair falling. This condition may happen when a woman uses chemicals very frequently. The hair begins to break off.

Once you have know the real cause of hair loss, select the right treatment to ensure better hair growth. If you’re suffering from serious hair loss, it’s recommended to consult a doctor.

The main causes of hair loss varies from heredity to nutritional deficiency. Other factors that can cause hair loss are stress, drug abuse or alcohol abuse, diet and scalp disorders.

To improve one’s hair, a lot of people now depend on laser treatment. Laser treatment is used in many places to improve the appearance of hair. Most people suffering from hair loss are satisfied by the results of laser treatment.

Though laser treatment for hair loss is available in many areas, the dermatologists are still in dilemma whether it is safe or not. Laser treatment for hair loss is usually performed in exclusive hair clinics. In these clinics they are having large laser devices, which require at least some sittings per month. Therefore the use of laser treatment for hair loss is questionable.

Hair transplantation can be performed if the laser treatment for hair loss does not show positive results. In the male pattern baldness, hair transplantation can be performed. Hair loss due to accidents and operations can also be transplanted.

Laser Comb – alternative to Laser Treatment

In order to lower the cost of laser treatment for hair loss, a modern comb called laser comb is used to treat the hair loss condition. The main benefit of laser comb is that it saves money on laser treatments. Laser comb is the modified laser treatment for hair loss. This is the home version and low expense product when compared to Cosmetic Laser Devices. The laser treatment in hair clinics may cost hundreds of dollars for one sitting. But Laser comb is not expensive and approved by FDA as a cosmetic device for thickening hair appearance. Laser comb can be used as a laser treatment for hair loss in combination with a normal treatment treatment.

Though laser comb is approved by the FDA for the purpose of hair thickening, now the FDA is conducting numerous trials giving approval for hair growth stimulation. Laser light therapy is being used for anti inflammatory effects and wound healing on the skin.

Laser comb utilizes low level laser therapy (LLLT), which emits photo energy. Low-level laser treatment of hair loss is painless and non-toxic.

Laser comb can promote hair growth and fight hair loss. By using laser comb, you can achieve healthier and thicker hair.

Many women and men are looking for natural hair loss cure. Most of us feel that one’s appearance is an important thing for human society. Hence there is great demand for hair loss products..

Hair loss treatments are available in different forms such as medicines, supplements, lotions, and shampoos. You first need to find out the cause of your hair loss before you can select a hair loss treatment. There are many reasons for losing hair: aging, heredity and hormonal imbalance. DHT, Dihydrotestosterone is an important reason for hair loss. DHT will block the flow of essential nutrient to the hair, which in turn stops healthy hair growth.

Saw Palmetto is a powerful herb that lowers the DHT in the body by 5 alpha-reductase blockades. Saw Palmetto stops hair loss by blocking the cell membrane receptor sites in the hair follicle where DHT might get absorbed.

Another herb called Nettle Root also offers hair loss cure by preventing two enzymes viz., aromatase and 5 alpha-reductase, which makes estrogen and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) respectively. Research claimed that these two enzymes have been blocked completely by the Nettle Root extract.

A cure of hair loss can also be achieved by choosing the medications that block DHT in the scalp. Some products can fight against the thinning of hair by minimizing the DHT level in the scalp.

Nisim, Folligen and Tricomin are the commonly available shampoos, scalp lotions and conditioners that help to stop hair loss. Viviscal is used extensively for curing hair loss. It is available in tablet form also. Folligen is available with copper peptides to treat hair loss. Tricomin is available in three forms as spray, shampoo and conditioner. It also contains copper.

Trace minerals such as Zinc and magnesium also help to stop hair loss. Zinc is primarily helpful in fighting against skin problems such as boils, sore throats and acne. In addition to this, Zinc plays a crucial role in cell division.

Although there are so many hair loss treatments available to help curing hair loss, only two medications (Rogaine and Propecia) have been approved by the FDA. Rogaine and Propecia are used widely by men oll over the world to stop hair loss.

Hair generally grows about half an inch per month, though this slows as you age. Each hair remains on your head for two to six years, and during most of this time is continually growing. But many factors can affect this cycle. The outcome can be that your hair falls out early or isn’t replaced.

A new study has been made in finding out what actually causes hair loss, namely: the hardening of collagen. Persons who do not suffer from hair loss have supple collagen and persons who begin showing signs of hair loss have hardened collagen. Collagen hardening interferes with the healthy functioning of the hair roots. The vital exchange process of the hair follicle cycle is disrupted and the hair becomes suffocated.

What Really Causes Hair Loss?

Diet

Too little protein in your diet can lead to hair loss. Too strenuous dieting can result in hair loss! If you want to lose weight, do it the correct way. Pay special attention if you already have thinning hair problem.

Childbirth

Some women lose large amounts of hair within two to three months after delivery.

What To Do?

One great tip is after washing your hair, dry it in whatever manner you normally do. Then turn your head upside down, give your head a vigorous shake, and once back in a standing position, either “place” your hair using your fingers, rather than a brush or comb. You can also use a hair pick to style your hair. The upside down, shaking, also gives a great deal of fullness to otherwise flat looking thin hair. You’d be amazed at how creative you can be with your fingers without pulling at the root of the hair!

To protect hair, the best practice is to shampoo only when hair is dirty. Because fine hair gets dirty faster, people with fine-textured hair need to shampoo more frequently — even though fine hair breaks more easily. Keep in mind that Protein is an essential element to your healthy hair.

There are several causes of hair loss, but the main causes of hair loss are health, stress, and hormones.

Health

Health is one factor in hair loss. Damaged blood vessel linings can inhibit your hair growth. This is because these blood vessel linings normaly produce endothelium-derived relaxing factor (E.D.R.F.) or nitric oxide (N.O.). Studies also show that there is a clear relationship between people with heart disease experienceing hair loss. Also, diabetics have a higher chance of experiencing hair loss.

Stress

Stress can also cause your hair to fall out. Typically the hair loss happens 3 months after you’ve gone through the stressful period. Then you will need another 3 months after you start losing hair for your hair growth to begin again ( if the stress has been diffused ). Your bodies built in healing process considers your emotional problem so important, that it ignores your hair putting it into a resting phase. This resting phase is known as Telogen Effluvium. Stress can also trigger genetic hair loss. It’s important to keep your stress at low level.

Hormones

Finally, male hormones called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is known to be the most common cause for male pattern hair loss. DHT is produced from testosterone which is produced by the enzyme 5-apha reductase. Your DHT hormones can be balanced which medication, these medications will resurrect your hair follicles bringing them out of their resting phase and your hair will begin to grow again. The most popular hair loss medication is Propecia. An inbalance of DHT triggers and autoimmune response in pattern loss, which initiates an attack on your hair follices. Gradually your hair follices will become inflammed putting your hair in a resting phase which causes hair to only fall out not grow.

Fifty percent of the people in the U.S. suffer from hair loss. There are many treatments out there, some will correct the inbalance of DHT in your body to allow you to grow your own hair again, some simply need patience or counseling, and of course you can turn to expensive hair transplant surgery. It’s important to understand the three factors that cause hair loss and your odds of preventing hair loss will increase.

Men who begin to go bald early may have their genetic to blame, according to a new research. Researchers have found that the major construction manual for a full head of hair is located on the X chromosome, which sons always inherit from their mothers.

This genetic storage space contains the so-called androgen receptor gene, a long time balding suspect. Looking at men who were losing their hair at a relatively young age, a team led by top researchers in Germany systematically examined all of the genetic patterns within the X chromosome to see why certain hairlines recede faster than others. It’s not a beautiful picture.

The study, published in the American Journal of Human Genetics, claims that a single alteration in the androgen-receptor gene is the main reason why some men end up going bald before their fathers. Nearly half of bald men would not be bald if they did not have this genetic variation. The hair loss in these younger men, he added, was much more serious than in the men who still had a reason to use a comb in their 60s.

Hair Loss Treatment for Genetic Cause

The two approved medicines to treat hair loss (Rogaine and Propecia) need to be taken for a long time to see results. With Propecia, doctors sometimes recommend their patients not to expect any results before at least six to eight months. And both need to be used indefinitely to maintain its effect. Once you stop, hair loss will resume.

Though there are only two medicines approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat hair loss, many people are interested in other, alternative treatments. The herb saw palmetto has been used for many years in Europe to treat symptoms of an enlarged prostate and there is some evidence that it may also be effective in treating hair loss. You cannot control about genetic but you can prevent hair loss before it’s too late.

The condition of your body depends on your mind and mood. And your hair is just an important part of your body. If you are healthy, your hair will be healthy too. If you are ill mentally or physically, your hair will be shredding.

Although many experts claim that stress and hair loss are not the cause and effect, but in fact they are. High levels of stress can trigger serious illnesses, emotional troubles, and hair loss. Here’s some characteristics of stress hair loss: It is caused by stress that makes hair to go into the loss-phase. This condition usually shows up after 2-4 months. The stress factors that can induce hair loss may be severe illness. Most of your lost hair will likely grow back on its own after your follicles go back to growth cycle phase. Some kind of hair loss supplement and medication can help stimulate the growth of lost hairs. But if you suffer from stress continuously for several years, and hair loss still continue, your hair may not recover fully.

“Telogen Effluvium” is the common name of stress-related hair loss. This kind of hair loss is very common these days due to the busy lifestyle of working.
You cannot do much about this kind of hair loss. But the good news is this type of hair loss is not a permanent condition. Therefore, when you can keep stress levels under control, your hair should return to its normal growth cycles.

If you notice your hair has begun to fall out or becoming thinner as the result of stress, this means your body is not well balanced. It is important to think about the causes of stress in your life, and try to control or reduce stress.

Here’s something you can do to reduce hair loss from stress

Share your problems with your close friends or family

Engage in activities that make you feel happy. Do some hobbies every day.

Try to take only positive thoughts out of your mind. Never let negative thoughts come out.

Exercise regularly

Relax. Find a calm place to hang out.

Eat well-balanced food. Otherwise try some hair loss supplement to get essential nutrition to your hair. Vitamin C, Pantothenic acid, and adrenal glandular products might help to alleviate the problem.

Get enough sleep
